Goodwood Highlights

BBC Radio Devon Interview:

Thanks to the entire Radio Devon team for giving me the amazing opportunity to feature in the morning broadcast!

What The Team Thought:

I asked the team three questions.

What was your best moment?
What is one lesson you are going to take away from the weekend?
What is the moment you are most proud of?

Here are our responses.

Erin:

I think the best bit of the event was getting to meet new people like the lovely people over at Derby Grammar School. The entire event had a positive atmosphere and was a good experience for all the ages. Even if we didn’t win the Greenpower event, Henry managed to place first in the RC Car Racing!

One lesson that I am going to take away from the event, is the importance of good organisation and preparation, there were a few panic moments while the car was barrelling down the pit lane and we didn’t have anyone to help with the change.

The moment I am most proud of is managing to wake up 3 minutes after I had planned, which was much better than the year before where I had 10 minutes to get outside the hotel.

Josh:

For me the best bit was having fun during the break, talking to new people and enjoying the RC Car Racing.

I am going to ensure I pack more fully next year, my hands were very cold by the end and I was borrowing the driver’s gloves. This is a perfect example of why events like Greenpower are so good for developing life skills, preparation is always a requirement no matter what you go on to do.

Hugo:

My best moment was out on the track having fun driving the car and taking the best possible lines. I love the way the car gives you a sense of speed like never before, especially around corners where you are held against one side of the cabin.

The main lesson I have learnt is to ensure I am paying attention all the time, there was a time in the pit lane where I didn’t notice the car in front of me slow down and had to go around them to avoid a collision.

Edward:

For me the best bit was watching the world zoom past while driving the car. I loved the new upgrades as they made the car safer and even faster than before.

The lesson I am going to take away from this weekend is that even if we don’t do well in everything it doesn’t matter. What matters is that we keep pushing for our goals and learn from our mistakes.

The moment I am most proud of is when we found out we had gotten up to 7th place despite being placed 35th overall! This took a lot of effort from our engineers, pit crew and help in all forms.
